Old St Charles

We took the day off on Tuesday, because I didn't have to teach and the weather was gorgeous. We browsed through a few antique shops in the old historic part of St Charles before stopping for lunch at Magpie's Restaurant. It's located in the old Spanish governor's house, which I don't understand since St Charles was initially a french settlement. But the restaurant has a large outdoor terrace and the food was fabulous - quiche and Caesar salad - yum! Lot's of people were getting desserts that also looked wonderful, but I opted to pick up a bag of caramel corn at the Popcorn Shop across the street. We strolled along the Missouri River on the way back to the car, and saw this commemorative statue of Lewis & Clark at the St Charles Katy Trail stop (you can see the river in the background).
