While celebrating a friend's 25th birthday at Cyrano's (well, OK, at least one of the digits is correct), we ordered a World's Fair Eclair for dessert. Not growing up in St Louis, I'd never heard of this delicacy before (maybe "delicate" isn't a good descriptor). Basically this dessert is a mountain of ice cream and chocolate encased in a thin layer of pastry and then smothered in whipped cream. According to my friends, Cyrano's was "the" date place to go for gourmet desserts and late night coffee back in the 70's. Truth be told, I think this dessert looks a bit wimpy next to the monster ice cream sodas my dates used to order at Topsy's on the Kansas City Plaza.

Whipped Cream Mountain
