Race Cars

On the final day of my Ranken workshop, the teachers got to "test drive" a race car. The instructors put the car up on a chassis dyno (power sensor), and then chained the front and back axles to the floor. Then the drivers waited for the countdown sequence (red, yellow, green lights), and then stomped down on the gas. The acceleration was so strong, that the car literally reared up off the ground (good thing they had it chained to the floor). The drivers said it scared them to death, because even though the car wasn't moving, it was shaking like crazy and felt like it would break away from the chains any minute. Quite a thrilling ending to the workshop, and certainly not your typical teacher experience.
