Another Robot Contest

I'm watching the 2-year college robotics contest at the Engineering Educators' conference. The students have to build and program a robot from scratch (no kits). Their robots are supposed to pick up all the orange golf balls (a dozen) and deposit them into the wooden box in the middle of the table. Tricky. Most of the robots are able to scoop up quite a few balls, but when they go to drop them into the box, they tend to get off-center and just drop them back onto the table.
My partner, Sam, is on the right. We always work 2 or 3 engineering conferences together every year. We've been to some exciting places (Hawaii, Canada, San Antonio, etc), but we never get to see the sites, because we're always stuck inside the convention center. The one in Atlanta is one of the worst, buried way underground, so you never see the light of day. But I enjoy working with him, because we think so much alike - we're both nerds.
