I've been running a lot of workshops in Portland. I needed to take a lunch break, so I left the convention center and headed out to find something to eat. There is a whole city block filled with food trucks - Mexican, Egyptian, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Greek, and one even had Polish food. But I admit to being a little nervous about buying from a food truck, and I ended up going to the food court in the mall and eating lunch at Panda Express. Places like this always seem safer if you know someone who has tried it first.
I didn't have to worry about where to eat at dinner time. The Physics Teacher convention was sponsoring a picnic (this is my second picnic since I got here). They just roped off one section of Main Street and set up picnic tables and a bar. My boss was paying for the beer, so they were serving my favorite - Black Butte Porter along with a nice-looking amber ale that I'll have to try some other time. The weather is glorious here - sunny, 70's, and NO mosquitoes.
