Addam's Family

This week's Muny show was the Addam's Family. I wasn't quite sure how they would turn this story into a musical, since the only song I knew was the one they always played at the beginning of the TV show...
They're creepy and they're kooky, mysterious and spooky,
They're altogether ooky, the Addams Family.
Turns out, this was the opening song with everyone in the audience snapping their fingers in the appropriate places. It was a very good musical and very, very funny, especially the Gomez actor. I just wish we had better seats, because I spent the first half trying to see over the Grandma with the bouffant hair and the second half leaning in the aisle to see around the linebacker two rows up. I think the Muny was built when people were smaller.
Since I've been working late all week, we decided to try out the theme dinner they have before the show in the outdoor Culver Pavilion. Except for the blood red cake and prime rib, I'm not sure how the rest of the buffet fit the theme of the show, but the specialty drink was a Zombie - appropriate accompaniment, especially after spending the day with 16 middle school boys.
