I went back to the River des Peres bikeway to check out the side trails. One led to Carondelet Park - a really pretty park with a boat house and an historic, Victorian-era picnic shelter. I'll have to bring my sketchbook back another day; but right now, even though I hit the trail at 6 am, the temps were already in the 80's. The lake looked really inviting, but unfortunately they don't allow swimming.
