Winner!

I'm sure you're thinking I'm referring to the Chiefs' Super Bowl win. Well, of course that was great, but I'm talking about my Monday night win at bingo. I was the big winner of the blackout hand - a $28 pot!!! But speaking of the Chiefs, while I think Patrick Mahomes played an excellent game, putting a headband of his hair style on Hazel might have been a mistake. Melissa is going to hear about this for the rest of her life as soon as Hazel hits her teens. Trust me, I know. To this day, Courtney still grouses about the mummy Halloween costume I dressed her in when she was 2 months old... even though I thought she looked adorable.
The snowbirds in this condo community are a very social group. In addition to bingo, exercise, and craft time, we had a hot dog cookout on Saturday. This time I didn't try to bring anything creative. I just picked up a couple bags of chips. You can see in the photo, they hadn't even finished cooking the hot dogs, but one chip bag was already half empty.
On Sunday, I got up early to go biking before all the walkers got out on the trail. It was a bit chilly, but the lake water was like a mirror.
All weekend long, some workers jacked up one of the old 50's bungalows (like the green one on the right), loaded it onto a flatbed truck, and took it away. I'm sure someone is going to swoop in and build another 4-story McMansion (like the one on the left) and totally block the ocean view, but at least for one day, we could see the ocean from the bike trail.
On Wednesday I met the Emerald Coast Plein-aire Painters at Henderson Beach State Park. We tried to go there last week, but there was a tremendous thunderstorm. Most people set up their easels on the beach and painted the waves. I walked to the other side of the parking lot and painted the sand dunes and the picnic shelters. It's a little tricky to paint with watercolor when there's so much wind (the paint dries too fast). Most of the other painters were using oil or acrylic.
When we finished, we all headed over to Fuddpuckers for lunch. About 20 years ago, I took Courtney and a couple friends to Destin for spring break and we ate lunch at Fuddpuckers. The hamburgers are still outrageously expensive and the decor is still crazy. They actually encourage people to sign their names to their graffiti walls. I'm sure Courtney and her friends' names are still on the wall somewhere, but I have absolutely no idea where I would start looking.
