Walking vs Biking

Since I'm almost 50 miles behind Janet in our Fitbit challenge, I thought I'd walk around Forest Park rather than bike. There are 2 parallel trails that run along the outside edge of the park labeled "heels or wheels." Of course, many people ignore the "heels" part and walk over on the bike trail. In their defense, I think the park staff spends more time on maintaining the bike trail than they do the walking trail. The bike trail is nice, new asphalt, whereas the walking trail is a mixture of concrete sidewalk, broken asphalt, and pea gravel. It was an OK walk and definitely a nice change of scenery from walking around my neighborhood, but hot, hot, hot! I never noticed the absence of trees when I was biking, but I sure felt it when I was walking. On the lighter side, the bikers to the right in this photo are a group of kids from a daycare. Some of them are so tiny, they can't bike very fast, so they were alongside me the entire walk.
