First Week in December

We got our first snowfall this week. Granted it was only a few flakes, but it was enough to plunge the temperature well below freezing. I had to dig out my winter gloves. In the process, I found my old neck gator in the hiking box. I like wearing it rather than a scarf around my neck, because I can pull it up and use it as a mask if someone walks by.

Since I've been snowbirding the last several years, I really don't have any warm winter boots, so I took advantage of Merrell's Black Friday sale and bought a pair of fleece-lined slip-ons. They look like they've got enough traction in the sole to handle when the snow turns to ice (a common occurrence around here).

Bruce put up our Christmas lights. This is probably the last year for these poor old rusty deer. There used to be 3 of them, but the head on the third one doesn't light up any more. I thought that would be a bit gruesome to put him out. I should have thought of it at Halloween.

We spent the week doing more touch-ups on the house. Bruce has been painting ceilings and I've been painting woodwork. It certainly spruces everything up, but I hate living in a construction zone. Luckily my sunroom is finished.

A few weeks ago, I told myself I was not going to log my steps anymore, mostly because I wanted to do other kinds of exercise. Then Janet said she was going to continue until she met her New Year's goal of walking 3 million steps. Heaven forbid I let it slide. I put my Fitbit back on and have been obsessed with reaching that count. As of this minute, I've only got 58,000 steps to go. As long as the snow holds off, I think I'll make it.
