Violet celebrated her 8th birthday this week. I think 8 is one of the best years of your life - at least it was for me, because I had Miss Nancy as my 2nd grade teacher. She was light years nicer than Sister Francis Katherine who used to rap our knuckles with a ruler. I sent Violet a water bottle bedazzler kit for her birthday. I think Violet takes after her mother and grandmother - they all like a little bling in their life.
Violet's birthday is always easy to remember, because it's the day after St Patrick's Day. This year Violet built a leprechaun trap out of Legos and cardboard. I thought that was really a pretty clever idea. Unfortunately, it's incredibly hard to fool a leprechaun. So while she didn't trap it, the leprechaun rewarded her for her ingenuity with a rainbow and some gold coins.
