I'm Only a Little OCD
In an effort to get organized (and get our junk out of the basement), I've had Bruce installing shelves, hangers, and hooks. I think we have over a hundred hooks in various places in the house by now, but at least stuff is off the floor. If we ever decide to get a Roomba, it will have no problem vacuuming.
My favorite thing that Bruce put up is a shelf and hooks for our bike bags and helmets. We were going to put some hooks on the wall to hang the bikes up off the floor, but we couldn't figure out how to hang the front tire on the hook (you have to hold the bike vertically). Plus I'm not sure I'd have the strength to dangle the bike over my head each time I wanted to put it back. So the bikes are fine resting on the floor in the corners.
We also turned our coat closet into storage for all our camping equipment. I had to go to 2 different Lowes to find enough shelves and brackets. I think everybody in Denver is organizing their closets.
I ordered a boot bench from Wayfair. It would have cost a couple thousand dollars for the contractor to build a custom one, plus it would have been white. This one fits the space pretty well, plus gives us more hooks without having to put holes in the wall.
But Bruce doesn't have to do all the work. We ordered some shades from Lowes and when they said they'd install all 9 of them for only $99, Bruce jumped at it. The trouble now is getting someone to actually come out to the house and do it. Again, it seems like everyone in Denver is getting shades installed (at least according to Lowes). If they sit in the middle of the living room much longer, I know Bruce is going to whip out his screw gun, especially since the sun from his office windows is right in his eyes when he's trying to write.
I went on another bike ride this week with the bike club. They call themselves, the SOBs - Seniors on Bikes. I really enjoyed this week's ride, because we stopped at a bakery halfway through the loop. But I was so winded after pumping my bike up a fairly steep hill to get to the bakery that all I ordered was a Dr Pepper. I may drive back one day and get a cinnamon roll.
I finally gave up the ghost and ordered a new backpack. Eddie Bauer doesn't make this model anymore, so I got an Osprey. Bruce said that's what most of the members of the hiking club use. My Eddie Bauer backpack went with me on our inn-to-inn hiking trips to Spain and England. And I wore it every day when I went on my Schnucks grocery walks during the pandemic. I hate to give it up, but it is literally shredding and falling apart. We'll see if the Osprey holds up as well.
