Remembering 40 years ago...

40 years ago today, we moved to St Louis and I started my first engineering job at McDonnell Douglas in the Fusion Energy Dept. Boy how time flies (and hair styles change). These were my co-workers (it was a very small department). The guy on the far left was an expert in Monte Carlo simulations - a mathematical model for estimating the probability of a certain outcome. Forty years later, I'm still not quite sure how that applied. The guy next to him graduated from Princeton. I used to think that was weird to graduate from such a prestigious school and then get a job in St Louis. The guy on the far right was a thermodynamics engineer who helped design the heat shield for one of NASA's spaceships. I never could quite figure out how I got hired onto a fusion energy project being a Civil Engineer, but these were a great group of guys to work with. I only stayed in this job for 18 months, but sometimes it feels like I just left last week.
