Alumni Lunch

I went to lunch this week with all the "retired" teachers from Nerinx. Most are truly retired and spend their days doing the things that most retirees do - reading, gardening, traveling, playing with grandchildren, etc. But a few, like me, just can't seem to give it up and keep their hand in at some job or other. Our former principal (the one in the middle wearing the blue shirt) went on to become the first woman principal of the local Jesuit boys high school (she has subsequently retired again). Our former president (far right) went on to become the acting president at the middle school, and recently just took another job as the admissions director. She's a nun, though, so she's required to keep earning a paycheck she told me. We went to a restaurant out in West County called La Bonne Bouche (obviously French). I had the quiche lorraine and onion soup - definitely not as good as I had in Paris, but not bad. This restaurant also makes decadent desserts - matter of fact, they have a full-blown pastry shop in the front of the restaurant that you have to pass as you enter and exit the restaurant. Ms No-Willpower picked up a couple of desserts to bring home on my way out the door. Guess which one is Bruce's (the healthy eater) and which is mine???
