We decided to try out Cuivre River State Park, an hour north of the city near Troy, MO. I'd heard a lot of good things about this park - hiking trails, boating, swimming, camping, fishing. But I'll have to say that I was a little disappointed; the scenery just wasn't that great (which is pretty bad for spring). There were lots of trees and hills. The trails were either beaten-down dirt paths with lots of muddy ruts from all the rain we've had or mowed strips in the middle of grassy prairie fields. I saw a lot of fishing boats on the river. Maybe more people use this park for that.
