Lego Robotics

Yesterday was the first day of the FIRST Lego League Robotics competition. I'm refereeing five events this fall (crazy), which still probably adds up to fewer volunteer hours than the coaches put in. I've been helping a small girls team with building their robot and writing the programs. The lady on the left is their science teacher and the one on the right is a much-needed extra pair of hands from the Girl Scouts. It is such a rush working with these girls. They aren't quite teenagers yet, so they don't "know everything" and they are still fearless-enough to try anything. They didn't advance to the regional competition (and actually only got 3 of their missions to work successfully), but they won a special award for teamwork. Quite an honor for the first time out.
