Girl Scout Scramble

I went to the Girl Scout Scramble yesterday - a practice session before the upcoming robotics competition. The girls presented their skits, ran mock robot missions, ate pizza, and received feedback from me (I'm refereeing at 5 different sites the next few weekends - YIKES!). I really enjoyed one of the little 5th grade teams (they called themselves the Nuclear Unicorns). For their presentation (the competition theme is food contamination) they chose to report on the proper diet to feed farm pigs in order to avoid getting trichinosis (they loved saying that word). They built a very clever pig in a trough for their display (the pig is constructed from strips of pink construction paper that are supposed to represent bacon strips). One of the girls was wearing a pink crocheted hat (notice the little pig ears on top). This team certainly wasn't lacking in creativity.
