Consultants' Meeting

I am a consultant for Vernier Software and every year they bring all their consultants out to Portland to catch up on the latest products. The first night, they hired a bus and took us to the coast for dinner (believe it or not, we were doing "business" along the way, because several people took their acceleration sensors to measure the dips and turns along the road). We stopped at Camp 18 - named, because you have only 18 more miles to go until you get to the coast. It's an old logging site with the best cinnamon rolls in their restaurant (unfortunately, we weren't there for breakfast). Dave and Chris Vernier are the two people on the right.
We got to walk around and see some of the historic equipment they used to use for logging. This was a great big crane that rode on railroad tracks to transport logs onto flatcars. I'm the teeny-tiny person in the corner. There are log statues everywhere, especially around the gift shop. This one is probably a statue of an old logger, but it reminded me of the Terra-cotta soldiers in China.
I think they went a little overboard with the logging theme in the lodge, because the handles on the restroom doors were hatchets. Whimsical or creepy????
