Paris Day 9

Today we went to a fashion show at the Galeries Lafayette - an upscale department store in Paris. It's on the same boulevard as Printemps and Bon Marche, two other big-name stores. The Paris Opera is just across the street. The fashion show was very youthful and springlike, though mostly it seems like everyone in Paris tends to wear black. I always feel like the odd iris in Van Gogh's painting walking around in my blue coat. Galeries Lafayette encompasses several buildings, but the most impressive part is an elaborate ten-story open atrium. The dome at the top is completely covered in stained glass. I had considered stopping for a late lunch here, but the cafe inside the store was a McDonalds (and it was packed with people).
We got a little turned around while looking for the fashion salon and ended up on the roof of the store. It turned out to be a big observation deck with great views, especially since most of the buildings in Paris tend to be less than 5-6 stories tall.
