My friend, Sharon, celebrated her birthday June 1st. June is a big month for birthdays with my sister (Karen), my nephew (Michael), and several other teacher friends. But Sharon's birthday has always been special, because we're only a month apart - which means she just turned 60, too. She thought about going to Europe like I did, but instead is heading west to Hawaii with her husband and daughters.
My sister, Janet, is also soaking up the sun this week down in Vero Beach, Florida while I'm sitting home in front of the computer prepping for my summer workshops. What's worse is that Bruce and I spent Friday night down in the basement watching the Weather Channel when the tornado sirens kept going off. I may have to rethink my options for next summer.
