High Performance Racing

Today was the first day of my Advanced Technology workshop at Ranken Technical College. There are 20 teachers attending, mostly Industrial Arts , Tech Ed, and Science. We started the day in the Automotive Department - the High Performance Racing division. They put this great big truck (a Toyota Tundra, I think) that had a "souped-up" engine onto the chassis dyno (whatever that is). Basically the truck is tied down to the floor, but the teachers get into it and rev it up just like they are drag racing it down the highway (the back wheels are running on a huge roller). The best driver (a female, of course) went a quarter mile in less than 13 seconds. It's really exciting to watch, especially when the truck raises up off the floor with the engine roaring.
