Robotics Training

The new robotics competition season just started and I conducted my first training session for coaches. All of them were brand new, had never built a robot before, but were very anxious to learn, especially since the season starts in just a couple weeks. It's very different working with 9-year old kids who know how to do quite a bit already, and then working with adults who don't even know what an axle is (we spent some time learning the names of the parts). But by the end of the day, everyone got a robot built and programmed it to drive around the playing field and pick up a ring - fairly important maneuver since there are 10 rings in the 2013 competition (wait until these people get home and realize there are close to a thousand tiny Lego pieces they have to assemble for their practice fields).
