I bought this book on Amazon called, "60 Hikes Within 60 Miles." So today we tried out one of the hikes in St Charles (a very retirement-like thing to do in September) - Broemmelsiek Park. There were supposed to be 4 miles of hiking trails, but one of the larger sections was closed off for construction (probably from all the new housing developments going up in that area). We managed to find a geocache in the astronomy viewing area. It's been a long time since we've logged any geocaches.
We stopped at Cracker Barrel on the way back for lunch. I did a double-take when we walked in the door and saw all the Christmas decorations. We barely got past Labor Day. Luckily they hadn't started playing Christmas carols yet.
They built a new outlet mall way out in West County, so we stopped there as well. Columbia Sportswear is my weakness, and since I "needed" a jacket to wear when I ride my bike back and forth to my exercise class in the mornings, I found this bargain. Courtney and I had actually checked out the outlet mall when she was in town last week, but the lines were too long to buy much except these dinner plates from the Corelle store.
