A while back, I tried to make a 3D mechanical collage in the style of my favorite artist, Anna Dabrowska. But I was never totally satisfied with the way it turned out. After taking a class from Anna in California, I decided to re-do the original collage.
First, I glued on more mechanical elements, since you couldn't see any of the background pictures anymore underneath the layers of paint. Then I painted over everything with a bronzy-color. I actually liked the way this looked - kind of grungy like all the elements glued onto it.
But then I decided to add a little color with some metallic sprays. The final picture is actually much, much darker than this, but the camera on my phone was really picking up the reflected light from the metallic paint. No matter, I need to call it done, because all the layers of paint are starting to fill in all the details. Time to move onto another project.
