I'm not really a very good cook (I don't pay enough attention), but the one thing I like to make are muffins. Way back when we were first married I bought a series of cookbooks - those kind you used to get each week for a dollar at the grocery store. The Quick Bread book is the only one that ever got any serious use from me. I like to experiment when I make muffins and try different ingredients. I almost always put in some kind of fruit and nut. Sometimes I use different flours like wheat or oatmeal. Sometimes I even use vegetables like zucchini or carrots (one time I used salad leaves). Almost any ingredient works in a muffin. Since I just came back from Portland, I added berries to this week's muffins - strawberries and blueberries. Boy were they sweet.
