Green Smoothies
One of my talks in the Green Homes workshop was on "Green Eating." I'm not an expert on the subject and I actually Google'd most of my information, but "eating green" is all the rage these days. One green that is high on everyone's list is kale. Kale comes from the cabbage family, though in reality it looks like a really, really curly leaf of lettuce. In my opinion, it tastes more like dandelion weeds, but supposedly it's full of antioxidants (another big buzz word with fitness folks). As part of my presentation, I decided to make green smoothies. They actually aren't that bad as long as you add in lots of fruit to sweeten the taste. For this one, I started with orange juice and a banana, and then added some spinach and kale. You don't have to add much to get that bright green color. I don't think it will replace Dr Pepper in my life, but they're not bad.
