Chicago

I took the Megabus to Chicago to visit Courtney. It was a toss-up whether to take Megabus or Amtrak - both are cheap and unencumbered by the TSA security hassles that airlines are riddled with these days. Our bus was scheduled to make a stop in Bloomington, but since everyone was going all the way to Chicago, our driver stopped at a McDonalds for breakfast instead. How fun and refreshing to be able to make an impromptu change.
I was going to do some sketching while I was in Chicago, but it was so hot that I decided to store-hop along Michigan Ave instead. I stopped in at the American Girl store and had to take a picture of this doll. She looks just like my teacher friend, Joyce, that I have lunch with all the time. The American Girl store was a little overwhelming, because they have hundreds of dolls and thousands of accessories. I kept seeing racks and racks of earrings, wondering how in the world the doll was supposed to wear the earrings, until I saw that you could get your doll's ears pierced at the doll hospital. Who knows what that would cost??? I finally went over to the LEGO store and bought their new LEGO Fusion Battle Towers game... "research" for my robotics business.☺
When I went back to Courtney's condo, I found out that a Sonic restaurant had opened just a couple blocks away. I couldn't resist stopping by to get a cherry limeade during their half-price happy hour. Trouble was, they had a big sign out front advertising 25 different flavors of shakes, so I had to get one of those, too. Between the deep-dish pizza, the Corner Bakery, and now the new Sonic, this 3-day visit turned out to be a calorie-intensive endeavor.
