Wallpaper

I'm getting cabin fever being trapped inside with all the cold, rain, ice, and sleet we've been having, so I decided to re-wallpaper the dining room. I thought it would be a fairly easy task to pull off the old wallpaper since it was coming up a bit in a few corners, but unfortunately I think this stuff was put on with superglue.
So after researching some YouTube videos off the internet, I bought one of those PaperTigers from Walmart - a tool that scores the paper so you can soak it with hot water and peel it off. The video said it would take a weekend; it took me 3 days. And once all the wallpaper was gone, I was amazed to discover the circus-stripe paint job underneath. I'm guessing it was done when the house was built. I've seen HomeDepot commercials advertising this kind of paint decorating, but I wonder how in the world they got the stripes so even in 1926 since they hadn't invented painters' tape yet.
