Watercolor Walk

Since we had 3 days of sun in a row, I decided to go on another watercolor walk. This time I took Metrolink down to Union Station. Unfortunately Union Station was totally torn up, because they are building a giant aquarium. When it's finished in 2019, it's supposed to "house aquatic life that can be found in the nearby rivers," however I don't think I've seen any sharks in the Mississippi River. An 8,500 square-foot event space with a shark tank as a backdrop is a major feature of this new endeavor, and will be available for people to "rent out for WEDDINGS???" (I swear that's a direct quote from the promotional materials).
Anyway, I tried to do a little drawing on the patio, but just because it was sunny didn't mean it was all that warm. I took the train back to Grand and walked over to Ikea to warm up. When I walked in, I noticed everyone heading upstairs to the cafe.
Ikea was having a Saturday morning breakfast special - scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries, and Swedish pancakes, all for only $2. No wonder the place was crowded. The last time I had a Swedish breakfast this big was at Ann Sather's in Chicago and it cost me over $12. But at least Ikea was a warmer place to sketch even if the only sights available were store displays. When I headed back outside, the temperature had significantly warmed up, so I walked the rest of the way home - 19,000 steps, though I think a good portion of that was spent trying to find my way out of the Ikea warehouse maze.
