First Fall Hike

For the longest time, we had green leaves on the trees and then almost overnight, the fall colors finally popped up. And after last week's temperature dip into the 30's, we figured the bugs were knocked back enough to warrant a hike, so we headed off to Meramec State Park. It's always very pretty to hike this time of year, but also somewhat challenging as the trail is hard to see when it's covered in fallen leaves.
I took my new Mini Cooper out for its first long-distance freeway ride, but I wouldn't let Bruce change into his hiking boots while sitting in the car. It's bad enough that the leaves are sneaking onto the floor mats. We stopped at Dairy Queen for lunch, but now I'm going to have to drive around with the sun roof open to get rid of the french fry smell.
