Robotics Week 2

This week's tournament was in Wentzville - about a quarter of the way to Kansas City (in other words, a LONG drive). At least we didn't get any new snow and most of our previous snows had melted off.
At Saturday's tournament, we had a lot of brand new Girl Scout teams. The Koding Koalas were dressed in bright pink t-shirts with turqoise tutus. Whenever they finished at the tables, they always started a line dance while waiting for their scores to be posted.
Even though the theme is technically space, a lot of team names involve animals. In addition to the Koding Koalas, we had the Space Hamsters (shown here), the Space Chickens, the Astro Eagles, and the Hydro Sloths (I think their name was leftover from last-year's water theme). The first half of the day was somewhat nerve-wracking for me, because the teams kept making silly mistakes, like running the wrong programs so their robots ran backwards or in circles (not what they're intended to do).
During our afternoon break, one team started doing a disco dance. Not to be outdone, I decided to join in. I guess that loosened up the teams, because all the robots started doing what they were supposed to do making the final round very close (a different kind of tension, but much more exciting). I think everyone ended the day with a good feeling of accomplishment. I ended it totally exhausted, but at least no one cried this week.😊
