I haven't ridden my bike much lately, because it's been so hot and humid. But we got a few days respite of cooler temps, so I took my bike over to UMSL's campus to ride the St Vincent greenway and Ted Jones bike trail (I'm not sure who Wayne Goode is, but I guess part of the trail is named after him). Every time I take Metrolink to the airport, I can look down at the Ted Jones trail. But it was a little tricky finding it from the UMSL campus with all the criss-crossing sidewalks, streets, and footpaths. I made several wrong turns, which really gave me a workout, because the UMSL campus is nothing but hills (I'm used to flat rail trails).

The Ted Jones trail is fairly short (only 4.4 miles), so I rode around some of the surrounding neighborhoods and stumbled on this sculpture outside the observatory. Since I had my paints with me, I whipped them out to do a quick sketch. I could have probably sat under this tree adding detail for a couple hours, but my time was running out in the visitor parking lot.
