Spring Snow

We used to say "it always snows in March." But this year, March was beautiful and the snow held off until April. Go figure.

My biggest concern is that all the colorful flowers that have budded out will get nipped from the cold temps. We'll see. On the good side, this is Missouri, so if you just wait 5 minutes, the weather will radically change. To prove my point, it's supposed to get back up into the 50's today.

I made a quick trip to Chicago last week. Southwest was having a sale, so the flight was cheap, but the plane was packed. It wasn't that bad, since it's only a 50 minute flight, but I wonder if the pilots realize how absurd they sound when they remind us to "social distance" when leaving the plane.

Courtney and I went to the Lincoln Park Zoo to do a little sketching. It was a "warmish" day, but the wind was really cold (surprise, surprise in Chicago). A lot of the animals were outside, but some of them looked a little rough. I don't know what in the world was going on with this camel, but he was definitely having a bad hair day. The monkey house was open, so we went in there to warm up. But monkeys are almost impossible to draw. They just don't sit still.

We finally gave up and walked over to Velvet Taco - my favorite place (especially since all the Argo Teas closed down). I had 2 shrimp tacos - blackened shrimp and shrimp & grits. Yum! Courtney had some barbecue brisket thing.

We got the final finish date on our new house: first walk-thru June 10 and closing June 17. So we decided to pull the trigger on hiring a realtor. This week was bulky trash time, so we were able to unload all the junk from the attic that we're not planning to take with us. I had to laugh watching Bruce carry the stuff out to the curb, because before he could even get back to the house, someone came along and carted it off.

I never could get a picture of all stuff we put out, but I was able to take a photo of what was left. Since they usually wait a few days before bringing the trash trucks around, even these few things may be gone by then. I hope the new owners enjoy our trash, though I'll have to admit that if we weren't moving, I spotted a few "treasures" I'd be hauling home myself right now.
