Happy Anniversary
Happy 45th to me and Bruce! Hard to believe it's been that long.
We "celebrated" in our usual manner with dinner from Mi Ranchito (thank you very much for that thoughtful gift, Janet).
The traditional anniversary gift for 45 years is sapphire, so I got a new ring to commemorate the day. I told Courtney she could have it in 5 years, since sapphire is the birthstone for September. Plus, if I make it to 50 years, I'll swap it out for the traditional diamond anniversary stone.
As we were relaxing on the front porch that afternoon, we noticed that our neighbors had picked the same day to get married. Due to COVID, they had to radically cut their guest list and instead of hosting the event in a church or hall, they set up a couple tents in their backyard. Just like our wedding, it rained a bit. Forty-five years ago, my aunt told me it was good luck to have rain on your wedding day. At the time, I thought she was just placating me to make me feel better about the weather. But maybe I was wrong and she was on to something, since we're still together 45 years later.
