SOLD!!!

Well that was fast, but hectic. In today's world of social media, information gets transmitted at lightening speed. We met with a realtor on Monday - a young Millennial who is a whiz at technology. Within minutes of signing, we had a Coming Soon sign in the front yard and a friend texted me that she saw our house listed on Zillow. On Wednesday, the realtor brought over a professional photographer and showed the house twice to potential buyers. Unfortunately, it was pouring down rain, and with COVID, the mall doesn't open anymore until almost noon, so Bruce and I sat down the block in our car reading our Kindles. On Friday, I decided to head to KC to get away from the weekend showings and Sunday's Open House. Poor Bruce was caught off-guard early Sunday morning when a zealous realtor walked in on him brushing his teeth and still wearing his pajamas. Bruce texted me Sunday night and said to get back home, because the realtor wanted to talk to us, so I got up really early Monday morning to drive back (not a problem for me, since the traffic is much lighter on I-70 at 4am).

One thing that's changed since we last sold a house is that they don't print off paper brochures anymore. When I got back home, there was a sign on the kitchen counter telling people to scan a bar code to see photos of the house on the realtor's website. Clever, but I think the wording of the sign was just a tiny bit misleading, because when I literally pointed my camera at the bar code, all it did was take a picture of the bar code. I had to download an app to actually read the bar code. When the realtor walked in the door, she had 7 contracts in hand.  I tell you, when they say it's a seller's market right now, they aren't kidding. On top of the contracts, people wrote letters and included photos of their families and dogs - talk about pouring on the Catholic guilt. So we chose the best of the 7 and hopefully (fingers crossed) the rest of the closing will run smoothly without something catastrophic happening like a tree falling on the house.
