Off-Roading
I wanted to practice driving Bruce's new Jeep before I took it out for any long trips, so we got up early Sunday morning and went to an open-space. "Open-spaces" in Colorado are kind of like public parks, because they're maintained by the government. But they're meant to stay wild-looking and not be carved up with playgrounds, swimming pools, or picnic tables; just trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. (They do usually have port-a-potties though, thank goodness). We didn't really go "off-roading," but since I hate driving my Mini Cooper on gravel roads, I figure the Jeep will be good for that.
Bruce and I took an Intro to Pickleball class this week - he for the first time, me for the second. I couldn't quite grasp all the rules the first time around; but of course, since Bruce used to be an avid tennis player, he picked up the game right away. At least I didn't hit the ball out of bounds as often as the first time I took the class, but if nothing else, chasing after the ball will keep me in shape.
This week's bike outing was to the Aurora Reservoir. It's only about 7 miles to the reservoir from our house, but it's a lot of up and down hills. I opted to meet the rest of the gang at the park and just ride around the lake with them (8 miles).
Then I stopped and did a quick sketch of the boat yard.
While I was waiting for the bikers so show up, I saw a ton of kids waiting for the school bus. It was such a strange sight for me, because we didn't have school buses in our old neighborhood. The schools were so close that the kids either walked or their parents drove them. There are so many kids in this neighborhood that I think the bus only has to make this one stop before it's totally filled.
