KC Trip
I haven't been back to Kansas City since we drove through back in June on our way to Denver. But I told my sister I'd come back as soon as she closed on her new house. Well, it's been almost 15 months since she gave Summit Homes her down payment, but they finally got it built.
When I drove up, her driveway was packed with delivery and service trucks of all sizes - her new furniture, her storage pod, cable installation, etc, not to mention all the construction trucks lining the street finishing up the other houses in her neighborhood. I had to park a half a block down the street.
And even though she closed 4 days before Christmas, Janet was determined to host Christmas dinner for her family. She assigned the job of setting up her Christmas tree to me, Violet, and Lincoln. We were just supposed to put the tree in its stand and plug it in (it's pre-lit with fiber optic lights). But the kids found some Mardi Gras beads and artificial flowers to give it a little extra bling - not your usual Christmas decor, but I thought it looked very festive.
I didn't stick around for Christmas Day dinner, but Janet did manage to pull it off. The only one missing was Jamie who had to work at the fire station that day.
On the drive back to Denver, I stopped for my own special treat - biscuits and gravy from McDonalds. That might sound like a bizarre treat, but they don't serve it on the menu in Colorado. I have to grab it when I see it.
