Happy Birthday Goldie, Cami, and Amber
Baby Goldie is already 1 month old and gets to follow the Taylor tradition of monthly celebratory stickers. Truthfully, I think Melissa should follow in my Dad's footsteps and get some stickers labeled #1, #2, #3, and #4 - easier than trying to remember each kid's name. I never thought Goldie would survive her 3 older siblings (especially #3 Hazel), but the only fighting going on seems to be who gets to hold her the most.
Young Gen-X mothers seem to love throwing unique birthday parties for their kids. One of my teacher friends sent me these photos from her granddaughter's party. Instead of simply playing Pin the Tail on the Donkey to represent a barnyard theme (like we would have done when my kids were little), they literally turned their garage into a mini-petting zoo complete with baby goats and chicks. Good thing they put down that plastic tarp. I wouldn't want to have to clean up after all those animals.
Amber celebrated her birthday this week, too, albeit minus the barnyard party. She and Brian are really into board games, so I sent her the Disney game Villainous. My friend, Joyce, and I have been trying to figure this game out, but it is somewhat convoluted. Each player takes on the role of a Disney villain, each having their own abilities, fates, and objectives in order to win the game. So, for example, if you are playing the Captain Hook character, you have to "think" like a bad guy and defeat Robin Hood before you can win the game. It's a little confusing, because I keep wanting to save the good guys, not kill them off. But I'm sure Brian and Amber can figure it out and teach Joyce and I how to play. (Side comment: I was really freaked out by this picture of Brian. I'm going to have to get him some Grecian formula when his birthday rolls around. I'm too young to have a gray-haired son. I'm still trying to get used to having a gray-haired husband.)
