The past 2 years have been absolutely crazy trying to keep a robotics tournament going, but this weekend topped them all. With the recent Omicron upsurge, most institutions in St Louis canceled all public events. The organizers were finally able to get a commitment from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, but 3 days before the tournament, St Louis got a massive 10-inch snow storm. So back to virtual refereeing only this time on a much larger scale, since this was the end-of-the-season regional tournament (16 refs and 40 teams). I really applaud all the volunteers and the team coaches for their willingness to switch gears on a moment's notice. Hopefully next year, things will be back to normal (but didn't we say that last year???).
