Happy Birthday, Hazel

Lucky Hazel got to spend the past week at the beach. I think that's one of the benefits of having a birthday in March - spring break falls right in the middle. I just think she should have invited me along.

For the past month, my computer has been giving me fits telling me that there is no more memory left. Granted, it's 5 years old, but when I bought it, I opted for the larger hard drive - 256 Mbytes. I remember when computers first came out and we thought 64K was a big deal. But apps these days are real memory hogs, especially robot apps. I've used Dell laptops for the past 20 years (on the left), but this time I thought I'd try something different. So I bought a Microsoft 2-in-1 Surface computer (on the right). I can use it as a traditional laptop, or I can unplug the keyboard and write directly on the screen with my finger or a stylus. It's really quite an interesting device. I just wish it would quit trying to "help me" do things.

Our snow finally melted and we got some decently warm weather, so I took my bike out for a ride on the Piney Creek Trail. The view of the mountains was gorgeous, which unfortunately didn't show up that well in this photo. But by 1pm, I had taken off my jacket and was able to ride around in short sleeves. Thank goodness I put on sunscreen.

Bruce went the opposite direction and headed to the mountains to go skiing. We haven't been skiing since the kids were little, but he heard about a great place only an hour and a half away that didn't have long lift lines like Vail or Winter Park. He made it back home in one piece, albeit with several bruises  from falling multiple times down the hill. But on the good side, he said he didn't have to stand in any lines.
