New Jacket
It's almost warm enough to get back out on the biking trails. I wanted a jacket that was bright enough for cars to see me, but the ones at REI were so expensive. I found a yellow one on Amazon with zip-off sleeves and one of those hip pockets for your phone. I was a little leery of the sizing, since most stuff from Amazon comes from China these days and Chinese ladies are much smaller than American women. But I was very pleased when the jacket arrived. It fit perfectly and it is so bright, I'm sure cars will have no trouble seeing me (assuming they're not blinded by the color).
I went out to lunch with one of my ladies' groups the other day - an Italian place. I had the margherita pizza - very tasty, but loaded with garlic. Everybody at the table had something that looked really delicious, so I may have to go back with Bruce.
Since the restaurant was just a couple blocks from IKEA, I decided to stop in and look for a rug to go with the new patio set. I also found a plant at Lowe's that will look really good on the deck when the weather warms enough not to freeze it at night. It's a very different type of climate living in the mountains...COLD!!!
They finally finished construction on the house next door, but never came back to re-seed the common area behind our house, so we're getting a lot of erosion with all the melted snow runoff. An inspector came by the other day and said they have to raise the fence first. Some of the posts look like they've sunk into the ground. Personally, I think whoever installed this fence was drunk at the time, because it weaves up and down the entire length. We'll see if they really send someone out to straighten it out. I may have to get the shovel out and fill in that dirt myself.
I finally got around to finishing Goldie's baby book. I have the easy part - making the structure. Janet is the one who has to fill it with pictures. I know she hasn't done Hazel's yet, and I'm not sure if she ever finished Lincoln's. Goldie may have to wait for her high school graduation to get her baby book done.
Janet and I are still trying to tackle the 52-Hike Challenge. This week I hiked near the lake in Chatfield Park while I waited for the Urban Sketchers to show up. I should have painted first and hiked afterwards, because the temperature dropped during the day rather than warmed up. My hands were freezing by the time I finished painting my picture.
Bruce and I went to get another vaccine - this time the shingles shot. I actually had a shingles shot 9 years ago, but my doctor called that the "Ford" version and they have a new "Cadillac" version. Truthfully, I'm about vaccined-out, but since my mom got shingles (and it was pretty painful), I guess I'll bite the bullet and go back for the 2nd dose. I hate getting old.
