Neighborhood Clubs

There's always a lot to do when you live in a 55+ community. Last weekend, they sponsored a Club Fair during Donut Day at the clubhouse. Our neighborhood has over 30 clubs. I worked the Ladies Out to Lunch Club for an hour and then manned the Biking Club signups (the president of the Ski Club is on the right). It's nice to have so many options, but the clubs are starting to overwhelm my life. I'm in 4 different Ladies Out to Lunch groups, besides the Bike Club, Geek Club, Hiking Club, and Craft Club. Going out to lunch is certainly fun, but I'm starting to put on weight. I'm going to have to pick one of my groups and give the other 3 up.

This week, the Bike Club went all the way down the Cherry Creek trail to downtown Denver. Since I'm not in good enough shape to ride 50 miles, I met them down at Olive & Finch - the restaurant where we stopped for breakfast. It was fun to finally be warm enough to wear shorts.

Afterwards, while they rode back home, I rode down to Confluence Park - the spot where Cherry Creek empties into the Platte River. Last summer, I rode the southern part of the Platte River Trail, but I've never ridden it all the way downtown. I plan to ride this trail again some time, because I discovered there's an REI store on the other side of the river.

I took a pickleball bootcamp class this week. For 2 days, we played in 80° heat and it just about killed me. But the last day it snowed, so we played indoors at the Parker Rec Center. I think I preferred the outdoor courts, because the Rec Center smelled sweaty (my germophobia was kicking in). I'm still not the greatest pickleball player, but I won a beer glass for having the best serve. I thing that's pretty appropriate, since I've spent more time at pickleball happy hours drinking beer than I have playing actual games.
