Short Spring
Well, I guess you only get one day of spring in Colorado. Ten days ago, it was snowing. Yesterday we hit 99°... almost broke a record. Unfortunately, yesterday was the day the neighbors decided to have a meet-n-greet in the cul-de-sac. I stayed for a while, but then I went inside and turned on the AC. 99° on asphalt pavement is too hot for me.
I should have been with Violet and Lincoln. They went on vacation to Gatlinburg, TN and found these ginormous ice cream treats - much more my style than sitting in the heat chewing on mozzarella sticks.
For this week's bike ride we rode to the south end of the Cherry Creek Trail to Franktown. Franktown is where my favorite Mexican restaurant is, but we took our break at the Owl's Nest Coffee Shop across the street. I got the German Chocolate Mocha (OMG was it good!). The only trouble with this coffee shop was there was no direct link to it from the trail. We had to carry our bikes up the embankment to the highway and heft them over a barbed wire fence. Luckily we weren't the first people to try this, because the fence was pretty much smushed down.
I went back to the Park Hill neighborhood to do some more sketching. This is an Episcopal church. I thought it was a really pretty building, but it was also a bear to draw.
Our neighborhood is offering free yoga classes this summer. I haven't done yoga in ages, but I thought it would be a good way to use some other muscles. Let me just say that those muscles were screaming by the time we were finished.
