Where Did February Go???
Well Janet has been keeping up the pace this month and has already exceeded 500,000 steps since the first of the year (that's 250 miles!). I'm still slogging through the snow, but we've actually had a few 50° days, so I'm starting to catch up (only 38 miles behind her this week). Janet's reached the halfway point on our Colorado Trail trek; I'm almost there. Our original goal was to reach Durango by June 1, but it looks like we'll finish at least a month early.
The weather in Colorado is still as weird as ever. Every single Wednesday we get a fresh snowstorm. It's irritating to me, because that was the day the bike club used to go riding. But Bruce and I decided to take advantage of last week's new snow and go out on a "poor man's" snowshoe hike. We just drove over to Hidden Mesa Open Space. It was a lot easier and cheaper than driving all the way to Breckenridge. There is a big prairie dog town about halfway along the trail, so we heard a lot of chattering as we shushed along. The other advantage of going to Hidden Mesa is that it's just down the street from my favorite Mexican restaurant - love their tamales!
I'm not a person who spends a lot of money on clothes, but I do tend to buy a lot of paint palettes. I saw a cheap trick on YouTube for making your own. I bought an eye shadow kit from Dollar Tree, scraped out all the eye shadow, and filled the wells with paint. Voila, a miniature palette! I tested it out in our library's coffee shop and it worked great. It's really nice to have small sets of paint like this that I can carry easily on my bike.
