Backyard Makeover
We really haven't had a chance to do much landscaping to the backyard, because it's been raining so much. And in Colorado, it doesn't just sprinkle a bit when it rains; it's a major gusher. And those gushers have been pushing the bare dirt onto the decorative gravel. So we decided to build some dry creek beds out of cobblestone to try to keep the rain from washing the entire yard into the gulch.
My job was to lay out the landscape fabric in an approximate pattern. It doesn't look like that hard of a job; but good grief, I think we picked the hottest day of the summer to do this project.
Poor Bruce got stuck hauling most of the cobblestone into the backyard - 3 tons worth!!!
We ended up with 2 big creek beds on either side of the house and a smaller one down the middle (mostly right now, it's just where we dumped the last remaining stones).
I did manage to steal a few stones and create a little creek bed around the lights in the space next to the front porch. I think it makes the lights look a more interesting, plus this creek bed looks like it runs underneath the sidewalk and into the big one running down the middle of the front yard. Now I need to figure out a way to disguise that ugly gray porch.
