Well good luck on trying to make any progress on my new bike challenge. Last week's hailstorm also resulted in 2 tornados and multiple flash floods which left tons of debris and damage on many of the bike trails.
One of the boardwalks on the Cherry Creek Trail was completely twisted off its base.
And if riding through mud, sand, and standing water wasn't bad enough, my bike chain kept slipping off the gears. So I finally gave up trying to maneuver the trail and headed to the bike shop. The maintenance tech asked me when the last time I'd had my bike serviced, to which I replied, "Hmmm... never." So he told me that you're supposed to replace your bike chain every 2,000 miles. I have no idea how many miles I've ridden on my bike, but since it's over 10 years old, I'd guess it's a lot. So now I have to wait 3 weeks for them to order a part (the gears have to be replaced, too).
But Wednesday was Bike-to-Work Day and I didn't want to miss it, so I took my old Trek bike off the bike trainer we keep in the basement, pumped up the tires, and headed off to collect my free t-shirt and pancake breakfast. My Trek bike is much heavier than my current bike, but it wasn't that hard to pedal, especially after not being ridden except when I go down to the basement to workout (which really isn't all that often). Thank goodness I didn't sell that bike in the garage sale before we moved.
Bruce is still working on the landscaping in the back yard. We decided to build another little half wall to help with the erosion. Pretty soon this back yard is going to be nothing but intersecting semi-circular half-walls.
But we both took a day off and went on a little hike to Hidden Mesa. With all the rain we've been having the wildflowers are gorgeous. Even the cactus were covered in blooms. And best of all, we stopped off at Adriana's for a Mexican lunch.
In dog news, our puppy was finally born on Monday. He looks a little creepy right now with that bright pink nose, but it should darken up before too long. The breeder sent us a link to a 24/7 webcam. I swear, every time we check the video, Mr Green is not only eating, he's usually shoving the other puppies out of the way. I think we picked the "chunk" of the litter.
