Summer is Flying By

I can't believe that kids will be heading back to school in a week. I feel like the summer has barely started. I've been taking advantage of the warm weather and going out on my bike almost every day. I've been trying to log some miles on the Highline Canal Trail challenge I started earlier in the spring, but there are so many interesting side trails to check out that I'm not making much progress.

One of my favorite rides is the Sulphur Gulch Trail. It has a really steep hill, but there's a coffee shop at the top with a great view for sketching. Depending on which table I sit at on the patio, I can get a clear view of the mountains.

This week I tried out a new club, the Baking Club, because they were doing a session on cake decorating. I don't think I've baked a cake since the kids were little, let alone decorated one. It's a lot easier to just pick up something from the bakery section of the grocery store. It was a fun group of people, but if I'm going to stick with this club, I'm going to have to start working out more.

I went to lunch with my original Ladies Out to Lunch group. We went to a restaurant called Spice Kitchen. I thought it was going to be Asian food, but it turned out to be Indian. I ordered the Chicken Biryani, a curry dish with rice. Good grief was that hot and I ordered the mild version! Notice how much redder my dish looks than the other ladies. I brought the leftovers home to Bruce; he can handle spicy food better than I can.

Bruce started a new outside project. He's building a trash corral, so we can get the dumpsters out of the garage. During the summer, they smell really bad in the heat. But in general, I think it will be nice to get a little extra room in the garage. We'll see if we feel the same way when there's 6 inches of snow on the ground.

In dog news, Charlie is 5 weeks old and growing like a weed. All the puppies have started walking and playing, so they are much more interesting to watch. I think it's funny that we picked a dog who likes puzzles.
