Solar Cells

This week I'm running a LEGO robotics camp - STEM Squad Goes to Mars. The first day we studied batteries using voltage probes, and then we moved onto solar cells - a natural source of power for NASA rovers. Unfortunately, I didn't realize it was 106 degrees when I took the kids outside to test our solar cells. Luckily, the kids were very fast with their measurements and we were able to head back inside to the air-conditioned classroom. And the experiment turned out great, because the solar cells measured 100% efficiency (not surprising, since the sun has been so intense this past month). It's so much fun teaching kids how to use this technology.
