Courtney in Seaside

After a 2-week side trip to KC, Courtney drove back with me to Seaside. Since she only had 4 days to play, she immediately headed off to the beach. The water was a bit cold to go swimming, but there were tons of people on beach chairs and towels soaking up the sun.
On Saturday we went to the Farmers' Market. I'm not quite sure why they call it a "farmers" market, since there was only one person selling vegetables. Courtney and I bought tabbouleh and grape leaves at a Greek stand for our lunch. We also bought focaccia and banana bread from another stand for our dessert. I'll be going back to the bakery stand next week.
Seaside has some fairly decent restaurants that specialize in southern cooking - shrimp, grits, fried green tomatoes. Every time I went past the Market Cafe, I saw a ton of cars in front. The sign on the side of their building always made me laugh, so we decided to check it out after our bike ride on Sunday. True to their motto, we had shrimp, crab cakes, hush puppies, and fries - all deep-fried.
While Courtney was here we went out biking twice for a total of 28 miles, hiking for about 4 miles, and walking on the beach for about 30,000 steps. Luckily she was only here for 4 days, because I'm exhausted.
