Unfinished Project #1

I'm not sure if this really classifies as an "unfinished" project. A few years ago I decided to crochet myself an afghan. My grandmother used to crochet all the time and my sister makes elaborately-patterned afghans for all her friends and relatives. When I made mine, I went the quick and easy route and just bought some variegated yarn - the kind that's dyed many different colors. I crocheted myself a little square and then just kept going around and around with the same stitch, because I'm usually watching TV and it takes too much concentration to follow a pattern. I don't remember exactly what happened to cause me to "finish" this afghan - either summer rolled around and it got too hot to have a heavy blanket sitting on my lap or I ran out of yarn, but I called it quits on the afghan. The trouble was, it's too short to really cover  up well when watching TV (notice my feet hanging out and the afghan is only pulled up to my waist). So in an effort to support my New Year's resolution, I'm crocheting a border around my afghan in an effort to make it larger. I think this is a fabulous idea for my first project, because it's been brutally cold outside and the afghan is keeping me warm. Plus it gives me an excuse to watch a movie every afternoon.
